  1. CHECKING THE FUSE:

With every HVAC system, there comes a fuse. The most important purpose of this device is that if any power surge occurs, then it blows out to protect the whole system from experiencing any immense damage. Even when you are checking the breaker box make sure you have insulated gloves and boots on just to be on the safe side. A blown fuse will usually have a black body and the only solution for this is to replace the faulty fuse with a new one. Just take out the old fuse and insert a new one.

  1. INSPECTING SYSTEM SETTING:

Ecobee temperature not changing could be due to the fact that your thermostat isnโ€™t in the right mode. If you want your thermostat to provide cool air then make sure it is actually in cool mode. To confirm this, you can either use the home app or look directly into the thermostat screen. If it is not set to cool mode then you will have to do this manually. Open the home app and choose the model of your thermostat, enable its cool mode.

  1. ENSURE THE ABSENCE OF ANY FAULTY WIRING:

Ecobee not blowing cold air should have an explanation and in this case the reason could be the presence of faulty wiring. If there are damaged wires present within your thermostat then it might show unresponsiveness to certain commands. Along with this, check the wiring of your HVAC system that comes to your thermostat as well. If you find any faulty wire then the fix is to replace it. However, it is recommended not to carry out this process by yourself as it could be safety concerning.

  1. CHECKING THE CLEANLINESS OF AIR FILTERS:

Air filters are the most essential part of your thermostat. If they are clogged with dirt then insufficient air (hot or cool) will be exerted. The usage of your AC could determine the cleanliness of the air filters. If you are using the AC all day long then of course there are high chances of air filters getting clogged up with dirt. Clean the air filters carefully or get them replaced if they have completed the time duration of 90 days. Filthy air filters could also cause your Ecobee thermostat to keep turning OFF without issuing any warning.

  1. INSPECTING THE DRAIN PIPES:

Drain pipes of your thermostat is responsible for taking the moisture out of your system by draining it near the outdoor unit. However, this job is pretty demanding as the moisture can cause clogging in the pipes. To clean the drain pipes, detach the pipe from the system, run a distilled vinegar solution through the entire length of the pipe and attach the pipe again.

  1. CHECKING THE FLOAT SWITCH:

When the water accumulation exceeds the specific limit then the float switch trips off to save the entire system from damage. This tripping occurs due to the clogged drain pipes so make sure they arenโ€™t clogged at all. To find the float switch, go to the furnace or air handlerโ€™s control board. Follow the wire that is connected to the R terminal and you will be able to find the switch.

  1. EXAMINING THE COOLANT LEAKS:

Ecobee not working properly could be due to the coolant leaks. What is exactly coolant? Well, it is a fluid like substance that is present in your HVAC system. The job of this fluid is to take away the necessary heat from the room and escort it outside. As a result, the room will become cooler than before. So the leaks in the coolant system might be concerning for you.

To confirm this leakage problem, the first thing that you need to do is take the coolant pipe and find joints in it. Now take some soapy water and run it around the joint, wait for some time. If you suspect bubbles in the water then it is a confirm fact that there has been coolant leaks. To fix this issue, call in some professional help to get the job done.

  1. INSPECTING THE AC COILS:

The AC coils of your thermostat are delicate to handle as they are made of copper. If they are exposed to the element then corrosion could happen. But keeping them clean is also important for the proper working of the AC unit. I recommend you to use professional help from outside as it is a really demanding job to get done.
